Umemployment Insurance and Citizenship

I got laid-off/fired from my last full-time job (exempt employee-w2) after about a year of working there in August/2008. I managed to get a short term contract (hourly paid-w2) work for about 3 months after that, but am again out of work now after that project finished.

1. Is there any problem with me applying for Unemployment Insurance now ?

2. I have Green Card and expect to apply for citizenship this summer, so will there be any adverse effects on my citizenship application after applying for Unemployment Insurance ?

3. Is it better to wait until after I apply for citizenship before applying for UI ?

4. After my Unemployment Insurance starts will there be any restrictions on travel if I need to travel to my native country to any family related issues ? Is that permitted ?

Any advice appreciated.

There are no adverse effects if you apply for unemployment insurance on your naturalization process. If you go back to your native country, you will not receive unemployment insurance for however many weeks you were out of the US.
