UK to USA then to Canada

Hi, Im looking for some guidance here please. I am a UK citizen with a full UK Passport, and am intending to visit Canada in July to holiday and visit relatives living there. I am initially travelling by air to New York, then after a few days sightseeing, drive to Toronto in a hire car. What I wish to know is whether I require any form of Visa to enter/leave Canada from the US. I understand that as a British citizen I do not require a Visa to visit Canada, but as I am entering from the US, will this mean any difference. I am intending to stay in Canada for one week only. Many Thanks.

You won't need any visas. When you enter the US you'll come in using a green "visa waiver" landing card, which is usually good for 30-90 days. You surrender this when crossing the border into Canada, then get a new one when you cross back into the US. Don't forget to surrender it when you eventually depart for the UK.
