U.S. green card holder going for Canadian Citizenship - Ramifications?

Hey all, I am in a bit of a sticky situation. I have permanent residence status in both Canada and the U.S.

I wanted to be able to keep my status in Canada so before I left Canada I applied for Citizenship since I met all the requirements.

I also have a U.S. permanent residence card, I was able to keep it in Canada because I was going to University there. Lately because I have been travelling back and forth U.S. immigration pulled me aside and threatened to take away my U.S. status since I am no longer a student in Canada. They said that they hold the right to take away my status because I am no longer a student even though I'm living and working in the U.S. The reasons I go to Canada are to visit my girlfriend and my friends regularly.

My citizenship test for Canada came in for next week and I am afraid that if I take an Oath in Canada they might take away my U.S. status and I will be stuck in Canada.

Does anyone have any insight into what will happen if I take my citizenship oath for Canada?
I don't plan on living there but I don't know about the future. I also plan on becoming naturalized here in the U.S. I just don't meet the requirements yet in terms of how long I've lived here consecutively.

Also, to add to that I was born in Colombia will this also be a problem when I get naturalized here in the U.S.?

While you are living and working in the US, you're still maintaining your permanent resident status in Canada. So that could used as grounds to revoke your US green card if you continue to travel to Canada while holding Canadian PR status.

Having Canadian Citizenship would make it easier to keep your green card than if you're a permanent resident of Canada, since being a citizen of Canada doesn't mean you are a resident of Canada. You could have lost your green card because of spending so much time in Canada to qualify for Canadian citizenship, but what's done is done and you still have your green card, so go ahead and complete the process to become a Canadian citizen.

No.
