Hi,

My daughter is born in US (and therefore a Citizen) and we are green card holders Since december 2001. In order for us to become US Citizens, we can wait until December 2006 and apply for it. Or

Can our daughter (who is just 18 months old) sponsor us now to become US Citizens immediately?

Regards,
luck

You have to wait

You will have to wait.

Having US citizen children help people who would like to get Green Cards but the children have to be over 21. (adults).

Let her enjoy the part of her life when she doesn't have to care about petitions of any kind:)

If you're currently a GC holder and under 34 yrs of age then you can enlist in the US military and obtain citizenship through that. Pres. Bush signed an order to expidite the naturalization of non-citizens serving in the armed forces without any waiting time. But the catch is you have to be on active duty.

I have another question. Does the US Passport indicate your immigration status prior to becoming a LPR ?(ie. AS6, EB, etc.)
If it does what will be written in the case of people who obtained their citizenship through military enlistment?

Thanks

A BCIS official (in today's Oath Ceremony) told everyone that per the new laws: non-US born children (<18yrs) *automatically* got US citizenship when the parents naturalized.

Also:
Per a Dept. of State official also at the ceremony, the children could not apply for a US Passport with their parents on the day of the naturalization- they had to wait until their parent's got their passport.

Finally:
Per the BCIS official, the children could file a N-600 app for a certificate at any time after their parents naturalization.

This is perhaps the one exception to JoeF's comment on: "no one can sponsor anyone else for citizenship" ??
