Help ! Just when I thought everything was fine....

I noticed that my wife's BC has a typo in her first name (1 letter in the end).
GEEZ !!! Rest of the info is just perfect.....Has anyone been thru this? Did you get the home country's local govt to issue a new BC or just send the one you had and hoped that no1 noticed it :) ?

What are my options ?

At the 485 interview, does the IO really check the original BC word for word with the application ?

Has any1 sent a BC with typo and has gotten an RFE b4 the interview?

I really wanted to post this package next week...right after my citizenship....humph !!!
 :( :(
Thx in advance !!!

Hi,
I would recommend that you send the birth certificate with the form I-485. You can also give a sworn affidavit to the USCIS stating that there was an error on her first name. If they still request a RFE after you submitted your affidavit then you may ask your relatives to help a new copy of her birth certificate including the correction. you may start this process right now without wasting your time. hope this is helpful.

Thx, Gopal...

How do I get the "sworn affidavit to the USCIS"? Is there a sample somewhere I can refer to ? Will it be just a piece of paper that is addressed to the USCIS stating the issue(notarised)? Does my wife (whose BC it is) have to sign it? Let me know.

Thx a lot!
