Turning in I-94/ AP at departure?

Folks,

Its a naive question but a bit complicated.

I am on H1 (have 3 EADs but never used them)

H1b stamp on passport is expired.

Have H1b renewal upto next year.

I-94 (white one in passport) has expired and thats why I have a renewed H1B

Never travelled after H1b renewal so the I-94 in renewal notice is intact...

When i travel next I plan on using my Advance Parole to re-enter BUT I plan to get passport stamped from DC after my return..

Now my question is:
When I leave - should I give the airline:
a. my old i-94 (the one that has an expired date)
b. my i-94 from my H1B approval notice
c. copy of AP ??

and When I return what do I show?

a. my old i-94 (the one that has an expired date)
b. my i-94 from my H1B approval notice
c. copy of AP ??

When Departing the US, you submit both your I-94's (expired + the new I-94).
When arriving in the US, you need to show your AP. Sometimes they may ask you to show your latest EAD.

Give all I-94's though, I won't be following my own advise when I travel Friday. I will be handing over my current expired I94.

I will be entering the country on AP.

I140_forever,

My lawyer also asked me to just turn in the I 94 in the passport the white one which is expired and NOT the one thats part of the H1B approval notice...

Is that what you are doing too???

This is darn confusing..

Have a good trip.

Yup exactly that!

My reasoning was that the first H1 I got had an I94 that pretty much had the same number as my original I-94. So instead of giving both, I gave just one.

Now I just received my renewal H1, but don't plan to carry it. Don't want to confuse the airline usher who takes the I94's by handing over two, and want no confusion over my adjustee status. Hence plan to give only one. (Inspite of the general opinion to give both). I will be entering on AP, so don't anticipate any problems there.

Thanks for the wishes kashmir, sfbay_area_guy . :) A much deserved vacation. I only hope the sun is shining in Europe the way it is here, or it is going to be a miserable vacation! :)

The forum is going to get a holiday from me for the next couple of weeks! :) Enjoy it while it lasts. Don't plan to even think about email, let alone check it.
