TTS Online Form Questions and Visa for Newborn

Folks,

I would like to book an appointment at the Chennai consulate to apply for a H1B visa for myself and H4 visas for my wife and newborn child. i.e., total of 3 visas including myself. I have a few questions:

1. I tried to setup an appointment on the "ttsvisas" webpage. On the "Petition Information" page, what does "Maximum number of applicants" mean ? Should I enter 1 or 3 ?

2. Our newborn does not have a passport yet. We have applied for one but it may be a while before the passport office in India actually issues it. Does the ttsvisas webpage require the passport information for the newborn also ?

3. Is the baby's presence required at the consulate -or- could my wife and I carry the baby's passport with us to the consulate ?

4. May be wishful thinking but we'd like to obtain an appointment at the Chennai consulate around mid October. Does anyone know whether dates are available around this timeframe ? If not, we may consider applying at New Delhi.

1. since for all 3, enter 3
2. yes they do need passport info.
3. for kids under age 14, they dont have to appear in person, but you still need to take an appointment for ur child. I would email the embassy to be sure
4. Last i heard Oct was almost full at chennai, things are not that different in Delhi too, but you might try there
