Travelling with stamp before plastic card arrives

Hi all,

I am sorry, I know this subject has probably been beaten to death already, but I couldn't find any info after doing a quick search.

The stamps we got in the San Jose office really look quite unconvincing. "temporary evidence of i-551" Even the issuing country is not on there. It looks like a home-made makeshift stamp. Is it ok to travel on this?

Thanks in advance.

Of course its OK to travel on I-551.
Numerous folks have done it.

You can pretty much do everything with this stamp as you would with the plastic.
