Travelling with Passport stamp..

Hi,
My GC has been approved and my passport stamped,
However I have not received my Plastic Card yet and I
have to travel to India.

Is it OK to travel with the I-551 (GC stamp) on the passport?

Can somebody tell me their experience with this?

My Friend had no trouble

My friend and his wife travelled with the stamp on their passport. They did not have any problems. They used the seperate line marked for citizens and green card holders while entering back to USA.
