Travelling with expired AP.

Status...

My wife I485 is currently filled and R.D is Nov15,2001 and AP is valid until Jan, 2003.

Problem....

My wife is travelling to India. Her H4 is already expired DEC. 2001 and AP will expire on jan. 2003. She will come back only after Mar 2003.

Question.

1.What are the steps and supporting documents she need to reenter in the month of Mar.2003?
2.Can I extend her AP now?.

she should not leave US without AP, you should file for her new AP and she should take AP with her, I dont know where you are, some local INS office can issue her AP in one day she may have to personaly visit INS local office.She can not enter US with Expired AP in Jan 2003.

She should carry AP and I-485 filing Reciept with her when she leaves for India, normaly they dont ask for I-485 filling reciept when you enter US but it is better to carry that Reciept so that if any problem they can check in computer.
