Travelling to Canada (GC in hand) - do I need passaport, RTD or RP?

I will spend 3 weeks - from mid dec. 2006 to the first week of jan. 2007 - in Canada. the question is: do I need passaport, RTD, RP or is just the GC sufficient? I do not have any valid NP, RTD or RP. I am travelling by train, not by plane.... I also mention dates because I thought they were going to change rules regarding the documents needed to cross the U.S./Canadian border

your input will be appreciated

:)

Search the threads. I believe the answer is that even though the law is changing, you still would only need a GC - no passport. Call the Canadian consulate to be sure.

Just came back from Canada, by air, no passports required, but Canadian immigration seems to be giving me a hard time while arriving. On the other hand, US immigration seems to be a lot easier. They do ask lots of questions, on both sides.

I strongly recommend to travel with passport, I did it a couple of months ago without passport and was asked for it on both sides. At the end you'll be able to go through but is a pain.
