Hello folks,
Seeing conflicting information online, does a Pakistani national who has valid green card and is travelling to Pakistan from USA via Heathrow airport, it's transit of few hours. Thank you!

Does he need to apply for a Direct Airside Transit visa?

As per web page at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/uk-visa-requirements-list-for-carriers

The PDF is found under UK visa requirements section at https://assets.publishing.service.g...8be/UK+Visa+requirements+18+December+2024.pdf

Thank you for your reply. To put the mind of the traveller at ease, I thought maybe double check with British embassy in the US. Interestingly, the automated voice message instructs the callers that they will be charge 86 pence/maybe close to $1 per minute for asking clarifying questions.

I would have gone ahead with the call but wondering if this is worth it? Had anyone else had experience with this type of call to British embassy in the US?

Tbh I’m not surprised they charge…you’re going to be asking them to confirm something you can find out on their website quite clearly. It’s actually quite a smart move on their part to prevent unnecessary calls I guess.
i have never called their embassy but i transited Heathrow more times than I can remember with the exemptions of either a valid US visa or my green card.

It all started with a travel agent telling the traveler in question that he may need a Direct Airside Transit visa and said he couldn't confirm anything when I shared the info found here and elsewhere online, which seems to suggest that there's an exemption for Pakistani national and a green card holder. He insisted we call the embassy to confirm.
There may have been a recent change in the rules or something that prompted him to send the warning emails to folks who had purchased tickets through him and had a transit coming up through Heathrow Airport.

Based on your previous comment, I just checked the website and am pretty sure you don't need the Direct Airside Transit visa in this case. Attached is the screenshot here for others.

Also, I would encourage others who may been in similar circumstances and travel through Heathrow to share their experiences so we can all learn. Thank you!

No, a Pakistani national with a valid US green card transiting through Heathrow for a few hours does not need a Direct Airside Transit Visa if they stay airside and meet transit conditions.
