Traveling with AP: Other documents needed??

Hello,
I am planning a trip using my AP. Can anyone tell me please, what other documents should accompany AP? I was told by a friend of mine that it is a good idea to have recent pay stubs, a letter from the employer, etc. Could you enlighten me more on this, please?
Also, if you do suggest a letter from the employer, would you be to kind enough to post a format for that letter and what it should include??
