Is there anything one needs to keep in mind while traveling outside the country and while the N-400 is being processed? I have completed my fingerprint step at this point with the N-400. Thanks for any input.
keep your travel duration under 6months, and if it is between 6-12months make sure you have proof of maintaining residency such as: paystub, house/ rent payments, creditcard payments or close family ties living/ left behind in US

I would hold on to the boarding passes during your travel and a copy of your ticket/itinerary and take it to the citizenship interview just incase the officer wants to see the proof of your travel dates coz he or she will ask you about your travel overseas while N-400 was pending.
I had travel between my N-400 filing and interview; I kept all the documentation with me of my travel (for some reason I didn't have a stamp on my passport), but when I mentioned this to the officer at my interview, he noted down the dates and destinations, but never asked to see any documents. I'd still hang on to some proof of travel dates, still, though.
Make sure someone checks your mailbox so that you don't miss anything.
When you go in for your interview, you may want to reprint your travel dates page on your application in order to update your file during interview. Other than that, you should be fine.
