Hi y'all,
For those who have been already apporved, I would like to hear some of y'all experience about traveling to Canada without an RTD or a Passport.
from what i gathered, green card holders (approved asylees, stamped) do not require an RTD nor a passport to cross to Canada, all we need is a driver license and the white card that has a picture and I-551 stamp.
Thanks RAsylee for sharing your experience via email.

thank you all.

cider-or,

You only need your green card (or in your case the temporary green card) to drive to Canada. Please keep in mind that you can only use your green card + driver's license when driving across the border.

It is true that permanent residents of the US do not need visas to go to Canada, however, if you travel by air (or any other commercial means of transportation [ie. bus/train]) you will need a travel document in addition to the green card.

Does this make sense? I do not know where you are, but I am sure there is a Canadian Consulate close by to call for verification of the information I provided. Go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/offices/index.html for visa office locations.

I called the Canadian Embassy in DC before I traveled to Canada. I was in Canada from June 21 - June 30th of this year, and I drove through Buffalo.

Hope this helps.

It does not matter how you enter Canada (land, air, or sea). A visa is not neeeded.
