Traveling to Canada without AP anyone?!

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has ever had any experience traveling to Canada without AP by car?

I am Canadian citizen married USC, living in US now. I applied about a month ago all my applications for green card including for advance parole. I had my biometrics taken a few days ago.

Something came up and I need to travel over the border by car in like 2-3 weeks. So I'm wondering:

Has anyone ever done it without AP? I know it's a little risky but is it really that bad? If when I come back I say I am just coming in for the day with my family and I just show them my birth certificate....

Is there anyway for me to get the AP sooner without an emergency?

Thanks in advance! Chaim

P.s. how long does it normally take after doing the biometrics to receive AP?

Bad approach. Never lie to a US customs official as you could very likely jeopardize your green card application. If you're saying that you've already filed and tell the customs official upon re-entry into the US that you'll just be visiting, it's very likely that you'll be sent back to Canada and your application denied. There's a strong possibility that upon re-entry into the US your name will be entered into a computer and the customs officer will know that you have applied for a green card.

The best approach is to try and obtain an interim AP. If you need to travel to Canada (Western Hemisphere) due to an emergency, I cannot see any reason why you would not be able to obtain an interim AP. Whatever you do, do not travel without an AP document as you would be abandoning your green card application.

You need an AP to re-enter the US. The privileges as a Canadian to enter without a visa or passport are not longer valid since you are in adjustment of status.

You definitely need your AP. I traveled across the border, and they were atleast as picky as anywhere else.
You could get an emergency AP if you need to travel, but don't go without it.

Thanks guys, anyone have any idea how long it actually takes for an AP? I sent mine in the beginning of March, but it's listed as having been received (I guess checks cashed) March 13.

I had my Biometrics March 30th.

I filled it together with I-130, I-485, I-765

Thanks

I efiled my AP. I took about 6 weeks, just submitted the photos as hard copy.
Otherwise, I think it should take about 2 months.
I never received an update online, AP just came in the mail.
