Traveling outside the country while N-400 is in process

I have just become eligible to apply for my N-400 (5 years since Employment based GC). I have to make a short 1 week trip to India next month. Based on this, I have the following questions:

1. Can one travel outside the country after applying for N-400 ?

2. If it's legally ok to travel, is it still a good idea to apply now , meaning does it have any negative bearing on my naturalization if i make a trip almost immediately after applying.

thanks in advance!

There shouldn't be an issue for you to travel overseas if it's just for a week. Just make sure you bring this up during the naturalization interview.

traveling isn't a problem

I made two overseas trips right after mailing in the n-400 application. In fact, I listed the first one on my application since I knew about it when I applied. The total combined time of the 2 trips was 7 weeks. I wouldn't worry too much about it - applying for citizenship doesn't mean one can't travel for work or take vacations :)
