I have friend that has f-1 visa which is going to expire in Sep this year(she is from Serbia). We are planning to go to Puerto Rico in NOvember 06. She used to go to Puerto Rico with her driving license only, but now we heard that rules have changed and they check visas. She is going to be in US legally becuase she is in school from which she has F-1 now, but she won't have time to go back to Serbia to get her visa extended...
