traveling after I-140 approval

Last week I got my I-140 approved but I cannot apply for 485 because of the prirority date. Currently I am on H1B visa and am planning to visit India next month. I have few questions:

1) Is there any risk to travel (while entering back) ?
2) Do I need to carry any special documents with me ?
3) Is there a USCIS website link which explains traveling rules after I-140 approval ?

I am asking this because last month immigration office didn't allow one of my friend to enter in USA becuase his I-140 was approved and he was on H1B visa.
