Anyone who received the plastic PR card travelled out of US? Do they swipe your card prior to departure and what is your experience upon returning?

RE:Travel w/ GC abroad

Last September, I went to India and came back without any trouble. While going out of US, in Boston they didn't ask me to show the GC. While boarding flight to USA, in Mumbai, they checked my GC and in Boston POE, they swiped my GC, asked me how long i had been out of the country and within 2 minutes, was out of the immigration department.
