Travel with AP while I-140 is pending?

I have a question that might have been answered before.
I am sorry to bring it up again.

I am planing a trip overseas with my wife. We both have EAD cards and AP papers, however our I-140 is still pending since September 2002. My H1-B will expire right around the time we are traveling. Do you think we will have trouble returning to the US with AP, and what kind of documents we should bring to the costums?

Thank you for your advice.

Keep every piece of paper/document issued in US in a brief case. Cell # of employer/lawyer/friends/Bankers.
About Trouble, I have no idea, but I can ask my friend he was'nt able to return. He advised me always accompany your family, is a good idea.

I agree with assur. I woudl also add some more ideas:

Get on EAD before you travel. If I am correct(verify it please), you need to fill one form: Form I-9, which is Employment Eligibility Verification. After that you are on EAD officially. You have to hand it over to employer and your part is done. For good measure you may like to keep a copy with yourself.

Check:

Also post it in 485 thread for more ideas.

I'll go for Farewell, in my case.
