Travel with AP to China

Hi, Ciba. I will travel to China for business and conference during late April and mid May, 2001 for about 30 days. My situation is as follows:

I-485 transferred to LA 12/00
AP received 11/00
EAD - Appt. scheduled on April 3, 2001 at LA Office
H1b - expire date: 5/28/01

Should I activate my EAD before leaving if I use AP to reenter and how to activate it( where to get I-9 form and submit it to whom)?

What documents are required at the airport when leaving and coming back?

Will this delay or have any effect on the process of my pending I-485?

Are there any other things should I know and be cautious when traveling under this situation (I-485 pending)?

Thanks.

Hi xw,

Since your H1 is expiring soon, you should use advance parole to
travel. AP is all you need for traveling. However, it does not
hurt to bring I-485 receipt notice (just in case you run into a
nasty officer at port of entry). After you return to US, ask the
Human Resources Department in your company for a new I-9 form.
They will know what to do to "activate" your EAD.

Are you on CSC interview tracking list? If not, please post your
case details for future new comers. Thanks.
