Travel with AP or keep H1

H1 visa itself has expired, so if return to state, either need get a new h1 or use ap.

So use ap means termination of the h1 status? then in worst case, if layoff happened before 485 approval, it needs a new h1 to get a new job?

Any suggestion on this kind of issue? Enter with ap or h1?
