Travel while I-140 pending

Is it possible to travel outside the country on H-1 while my I-140 (NIW) is pending? If so, is it advisable? Would it create issues while obtaining a visa at a US Consulate?

Yes, if you have a valid H/L visa, you can surely travel abroad after I140 submission and enter U.S. again. There is no need to take additional I140 documents with you. However, if you are ever asked whether you have submitted immigrant petition on Form DS-156 or DS-157, you shall answer yes.
