Travel while AP renewal is in process

My currently valid AP expires on Dec 5, 07. I have filed I-131 for a new AP on Oct 10.
Is it safe to travel to India and come back before Dec 5?
Please share your experiences.

Yes. I have done it many times during my GC process (5 APs). You can travel on your current AP until the valid to date. Just make sure you return before the expiry of your current AP.
