Travel to US while waiting for interview

It seems the general consensus is that you should not travel to the US while an immigration process is underway. Does anyone know if that applies to DVs?

I'm Canadian, with a brother a US citizen, and I usually drive down a couple times a year. I wanted to initially drive down and stay with him for a week as I explore potential neighborhoods to live in should I get my DV.

But if there's even the smallest chance it could affect anything, I won't bother.

No - that should be ok - no impact. The only impact some people have is that the DV application (submitting the DS260) shows immigrant intent, which sometimes causes people an issue with applying for or using non immigrant visas - but even that is usually fine if you can show good ties to your home country (job, home, family etc). In your case, being Canadian, you probably face even less scrutiny at the border than normal - so you won't even be asked about do you intend to try and take residence in the USA.

However, to your main concern, there is no potential impact to your DV application.

Flying to NYC on business in about a week. Will let you know if they kicked me out :D

I'm a DV2014 winner by the way. And I called KCC about the bulletin so many times over last few months that I bet they are sorting out a restraining order against me ;)

Cheers Man! Maybe on the way back I can squeeze a day in the city as I also have to fly to Buffalo.

Hopefully a short visit will reignite my desire to move to the US, as after 10 months of waiting, analyzing and staring into bulletins I pretty much become indifferent to the whole thing.
So tired with that stuff :)

Dude, you HAVE to move here.

Last night, after work I went out and played golf with a couple of work buddies. I played a beautifully manicured golf course. Youngsters came to the parking lot to help with the golf bags and cleaned the clubs while we sorted out the greenfees. I paid $45 for a pair of footjoy golf shoes (less than thirty quid). We had the choice of walking or golfcarts but chose to walk. The sun was shining, the course overlooks the Bay toward the SFO airport. As we played there was a beer cart making the rounds with beers, snacks and the could even mix what Americans call a cocktail (like a bloody Mary). Had a great round (just 9 holes) and as we came back the youngsters grabbed the bags, cleaned our gear and took the gear to the cars. The cost of my round? $20. Yep - 12 quid!

My point is not about people who want to play golf, its about the lifestyle. It's just so easy to live here man - people look after you, it isn't hard work to have fun and enjoy life. Remember all this happened after work at a time when I would normally have been trying to avoid getting killed on the streets of London in miserable gray cloudy summertime weather.

Get your butt in gear and get over here man!

Dear simon

I haven't played golf for over 5 years, because I would only have been able to play at the weekend in the UK - and tat time was precious family time. So yeah, to be able to play for a couple of hours after work, and stay married is really awesome...

Ahhhhh...the ever illusive sunny weather. I've heard about that. I'm yet to experience some myself this year  And I know what you mean about American lifestyle :) My mate from Cali is into mountain biking like I am and he pisses me off every week by posting photos from either desert rides, mountain rides or just strolls along the beach  Currently I can only go on a mud ride in the UK :)

Still I need to play it safe I think. If I do not get to Frankynumberville, then the disappointment will hurt less I guess o_O ?? Bring on that bloody bulletin

It seems to hear my husband speaking !
So impatient for him to another way of life

Right now I am at the gym Franky. It is on my complex, a minute or so from my house. It is a typical morning, blue skies, perfect temperature, and I am looking out the window at gently rolling hills with cows wandering around. I'll be taking a bike ride in those hills a bit later today with the girls.

Get here Franky.

I didn't understand your answer ! :D
I was saying that I am impatient that my husband has a better life than here !
And I 'm not sure you understand that !:D

Je ne comprends. Vous avez dit que je ressemble à votre mari. J'ai dit que vous ressemblez à ma première femme.

Silly English humour....

Yes! And I'm not sure it's a good thin

I did 45 minutes on the elliptical machine and was reading and typing all the time. Right now I am typing between sets of arm curls with 40 pound dumbells. But that isn't enough for you?? Now you SOUND like my ex wife...
