- It is ok to travel for 2-3 months after the stamping.
- The POE will ask you how long you've been out of the country. That is a standard question for any GC holder.
- Reg. employer letter and recent pay stubs : The POE shouldn't ask about them because now you are a legal permenant resident of USA. But for the safer side keep a copy of them with you. Since you don't have the plastic card, they may need to do additional check on the stamping made in the passport, but again you don't need to worry about that because that is also a standard procedure.

You should be okay. But to be on the safer side have your renewed social security card and the original approval letter(or the courtesy copy) handy.

Thank you all for your replies. One more quick question ;

What if the employer layoff's or terminates you while you are in India ?

Thanks again.

You have nothing to worry. You are out of the employer's clutches.
