Hi Sir, I am reaching out to seek guidance regarding a specific travel and visa-related query concerning my spouse.
She recently changed her status from H4 to F1 within the United States through a Change of Status (COS) and is currently pursuing her studies, set to graduate in May 2025. However, after graduation, she is planning to visit her home country for personal reasons.
Given that she would have completed her education at the time of travel, we would like to understand if it is advisable to travel to India at that point for F1 visa stamping and whether this timing might pose any risks even if she manages to secure a job on opt ?
Your insight and recommendations on this matter would be highly appreciated.

Traveling to India for F1 visa stamping after graduation carries risks, even with an OPT job. Since her F1 status was obtained through a Change of Status (COS), she must apply for an F1 visa at a U.S. consulate to return. Possible risks include visa denial, administrative processing delays, and scrutiny over her intent to comply with F1 rules. It's best to consult an immigration attorney before making travel plans.

Traveling for visa-related purposes can be stressful, but planning ahead always helps. I’ve learned the value of well-organized travel through my own experiences

F1 visa stamping post-master’s has become a hot issue, especially with changing processing times and varying experiences at different consulates. I’ve seen some smooth cases, but also a few where administrative processing caused delays. Always good to be fully prepared and build in extra time, just in case. Curious to hear how others have handled this!"
