I travelled to Canada over the weekend. Here are the details
I am currently on H1B and have valid EAD/AP. I returned back from Canada on AP since the visa on my passport expired in Sept of 2002. I also recently got my 7th year H1B extension.
I gave my AP to the airline person and she had no clue what that document was. Then I went to the immigration line which was really really long. But it did move pretty fast. I then ended up with a African American immigration officer who was very nice (surprize because my typical experience has been rather rudeness). After entering the needed details in his computer we were taken to the little room where we sat for max 10 minutes. AP and a stamed I-94 were handed back. We were done!
