I and my wife are on F1 and F2 visas respectively which are valid till 2010. I recently graduated and work for a company on OPT which is valid till Dec 2007.
Different companies sponsored H1 visas for both of us separately and we have received approval notices for both cases. Our H1 visas will come in effect on Oct 1, 2007. If we travel outside the US now, what status will we be coming back on - F1/F2 or H1? Does our leaving the country and returning on F status have any influence on our H visas, which have already been approved?
Since one is supposed to return to one's home country at the end of studies, isn't it going to be a tricky situation at the port of entry where we might have to tell the immigration officer that we plan to move over from F1/F2 visas to H1 visa?
