I am a medical trainee on J1-status that is valid until end of 2014 and subjected to the 2yrs home country requirement, holding a valid J1-visa multiple entry stamp in my passport, having a pending application for an asylum and waiting for my interview, and need to travel outside USA for just one week for familial issues and to a country different from the country I am applying the asylum for. Am I eligible for an advance Parole in this case ? Or can I just travel with my currently valid J1-visa multiple entry stamp and safely re-enter USA without affecting my asylum application ?

Did you take your fingerprints? If you didnt, then there is no problem because USCIS doesnt have you in their system, however, if you did, I WOULDNT LEAVE THE COUNTRY NOW, ID WAIT FOR YOUR DECISION FIRST.
