travel outside US after finger print

You could register with USCIS online with your NBC case number and periodically check online whereever you are. There is really no need to call anyone.

Question: I plan to travel for 2 months immediately after my finger print and how can I check my interview date?

More info: After my finger print next week, I plan for a two-month trip and nobody would be home to check my mail. So if the USCIS sends me a mail to notify for an interview, I wouldn't know. Can I call the office to ask for my interview date during my travel? I expect the interview should be about two months after my finger print date. I just want to know that I come back in time for the interview. I can shorten or my trip if necessary if the interview is faster than two months. I'm now residing in New York.

Thank you.

You can't rely on just the online status. Sometimes it may stay in the finger print status or case transferred to local office etc....

I think you will have to ask any of your close friend who lives close by to check your mail once or twice a week at least until you return.

If you can shorten your trip without any problem, I think this is the best approach. If you call up USCIS to postpone your interview, then it could take several months.

If I were you, this is what I would do.

Other option is to do finger-printing after your trip. Check your letter - you are usually allowed an extra couple of months to complete FP without having to reschedule.
