Travel out of US close to H1 end date.

My previous H1 is expiring on September 24. The H1 extension was filed on June 13 at Nebraska Service Center.
I must travel out of US in early September. I plant to return back before H1 end date.

Please advise how close to the H1 ending-date will I be allowed back in US?

it would be always safe than sorry.

You shouldn't have problem as long as you come back to usa before your h1 visa expire, for precaution keep you h1 extention receipt, your current pay stuff, w-2 form, employment letter and lease document/ current utility bill from your apprtment.

But if possible try to delay your trip, becuase your h1 extention should arrive in sep or oct.
