Travel On J1 N J2

please guide us
my hubby n me planned visit to India for 3 wks .will be applying for j1 extension tomorrow .presently DS 2019 , J1 is issued ,as heard with in 5-7 days.Even though our old visa is in status till june 2006, is there a possiblity we'll be asked to get our visa stamped for USA for next year if new j1 is issued with in this time span????

well i inquired with laywers at my institute.
so i am replying so that it could be of help to others in similar situation.
one can travel on j1/j2 and enter USA irrespective of the present status of newer J1 which could be in processing or j1 granted ot rejected .till the time one has valid ds2019 from old J1 no one can stop you from entering USA till midnight of last date on DS2019.hope this helps to those who might not be planning visit to indis/home country just for this reason, like us.
