I had decided earlier that i wont travel on AP and wait for the gc, as i was expecting it this year.

now with the nc pending n all i am reapplying for 131 and 765 today.

if n e one can give an opinion/suggestions or experience about travelling and comingback on AP (my H-1B is not current n e more, and i am working on EAD) I will really appreciate it.

I have never travelled on AP before and skeptical that somehow somethign bad can happen. This year it will be 4 years since i have been back home so really want to travel.

please advise

ok

You will be just fine as I travelled 3 times on Ap to Pakistan. Just make sure that you get transit visa for UK if you are travelling through UK .Otherwise they will not let you board from Pakistan. Also carry you work permit. You should be fine.

If I do not get my GC by Dec. I will be traveling to Pakistan on AP in Dec.

I have been in US from last 6.5 years. And never been to HOME since I came to this great land.

Hi, I am in a similar situation, I have not been home for 6.5 years India, I just had my EB1 approved, my 485 is pending, I was on HIB visa, but beacuse of Univ funding situation my grant ended on the 31st Aug 2007.
So Now I am on AOS according to my attorney this is fine and I can travel on AP and get in as long as its valid. My AP expires Dec 3, 2007 but I will be returning on the 27th Nov, I have applied for renwal but may not get it before I leave. So I was a bit nervous, but thats what AP is for and we should use it.

Any views.
Thanks

when i used to travel on H-1, i never had a transit visa for UK, and nobody ever asked for it and i went trough london too, we just got out of the plane for an hour or so and went back.....so if i didn thave a transit while traveliing on H-1, i dont think u wud need a trasnit traveliing on AP n going through uk......unless some rules have been changed

another way to circumvent this in case of a rule change is to go directly to dubai using emirates n connect to khi or wherever u r goin

n thnx guys for ur responses.......n e other people plz post expereicne travelling on AP

yes

yes you need Transit visa for UK when coming back from Pakistan if you flying with Pia Via UK .they check you visa on you way back to USA not leaving usa.

U do need transit visa on AP, not on H1B

U do need transit visa on AP, not on H1B. H1B is exepted, but rest others you have to. Enquire with lawyers, some of time lawyers also do not know. So check with CBP (Customs & Border Patrol).

Yes

yeah on AP you need transit Visa but on H1 ,F1 B1 or any other Non immigrant visas you dont. You also need transit visas if you greencard is older than 1998.

how about if u come through dubai

if u do not come thorugh UK and come through dubai ??

this way u do not need transit visas ??

No

No ,then you do not. But then at Dubai immigration ,they question you and give you hard time on the authenticity of the your AP.

Are you sure that they Give you hard time at Dubai Airport. My wife and kid will be traveling to Pak and coming back to US via Dubai using AP. And I choose this route just to avoid any complications. I thought this is the most simple route to travel using AP.

Ahhh man, I am worried now

u r not entering dubai so u r not going thorugh immigration

once u walk out, u just go through a security check point and on to wherever ur airline is

this is what i think

cud be wrong

Hi Guys,

This discussion made me worried about our travel plan. So can someone confirm that at Dubai Airport, Airlines (specially Emirates) know about Advance Parole document or not?

If they do not know about AP, then I need to change my route.

when i travelled through uk on my H1B i heard the same question tht i need a transit visa......things may have hanged now but from what i rem...we got out of the plane went through a security strip search almost n went inside the airport.......once we were ready to come back.........went back to the plane n showed the boarding card they handed us when we got of the plane n went back through the security check back on the plane

i spke to two friends last week who travelled to pakistan on Ap n they both thought it wud be no problem......i wil getback in touch with them n ask them exactly what airports they went thropugh n all n post it here

greynicolls,

Thank for ur reply. I am not worried about Transit Visa. What I need to know that ppl at Duabi Airport know about "Advance Parole". Our flight is driect from Hoston to Dubai to Islamabad and same route when coming back.

So again, I need to know if at Duabi Airport ppl know what is AP and we do not have valid US visa on passport.

dubai

you know man how dubai officials are ..Stubborn as hell .. If they said NO ,it means NO ,you can explain them or convince them. I have been there twice in last 2 years. If I were you I would go through UK with transit visa just to be on the safe side..

*** I am not a lawyer ,consult you lawyer for a better advice. This is just my opinion

does Duabi onnly gives trouble if u get out ?

guys ,
i am also in same boat, been more than 6 years since i been back. finally my 1-40 in EB2 has been approved recently and 1-485 has also been applied in june.
if i don't get GC by DEC i am planning to travel on AP.
i just wanna avoid getting transit visa and was thinking about going through Dubai. however i have no plans going into city , so most likely won't go through immigration.

can anyone suggest if its a good choice.

You guys are not getting the "Question" here. You never, never need a Transit Visa for Dubai, if you are staying on the Airport for connecting flight. I confirmed it with Emirates Airline.

Question is while coming back to USA from Pakistan via Dubai, do they accept AP as a valid document to board on flight for US.

accept

I understand what you are saying ..they accept The AP as its valid document but they give you hard time just by looking at your passport. thats it

I have gone through UK 3 times and never had a problem going through transit (with UK transit visa)

yameen i understand ur point

i have two questions

and

what do u mean by hard time......cuz these idiots at duabi airport act all high n mighty n e way no matter what u have, they always treat ppl like dirt unless u have gori chamri to which they kudo
