travel on a I551 stamp

Folks,

Im travelling to India next week , returning end of april . My I551 stamp expires on the 14th of May (havent got my green card yet) .

I wanted to know if the INS will extend my stamp before I travel. Im planning to go down to the LA office tmorrow. ALso does anyone know if its ok to stand in the appointments line? WHat room number do i say i want to go to?

INS will definitely re-stamp before you travel. Make sure to carry I-485 approval notice or immigrant visa copy (if you did CP).
You can stand in appointment line only if you have an appointment. (isn't that the case everywhere?)
