Travel during GC Processing for B2 Visa Holder

My father is visiting the US (for the 12th time). He has a Multiple entry visitor visa. He also has a Canadian multiple entry Visa. I was planning to apply for his GC here in the US (do the 130/485 step simultaneously). Question - Can he travel to Canada while the GC process is on-going? I have a brother in Canada that he would like to visit in a few months. I could not find any specific rules around travel between Canada/US while the GC process is on-going. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
 
If he leaves the US while the I-485 is pending without Advance Parole, his I-485 will be automatically abandoned. You can apply for Advance Parole using I-131 for free together with I-485. It should take less than 3 months to get. He should not leave the US until he has gotten Advance Parole or his permanent residency.
 
hi, I have one query. My husband is GC holder of USA. we got married in Dec2014 an he filed my i130, we got priority date of Jan2015. Is there a way I can visit my husband to USA on Diwali festival in Oct2015
