Travel during EAD/AP renewl process

Hi All,
I need expert adivses on this concern.
My EAD/AP are expiring in March and I have travel plans to India in Jan. I'm planning to apply for extension in November. Is it safe to travel when my application is pending? I still will be holding valid AP by the time I return (or enter US). I heard from someone that it is not allowed to travel when the application is pending even if we have a valid AP.
Please give advise.

"you are not allowed to travel while your application is pending" is not correct. by definition AP is given to travel while your application is pending. you can use and also are safe to travel as long as USCIS doesn't take decision against your I-485 application while you are in foreign country. if that happens then you have to enter using your other valid visa i.e. H1,H4 etc. otherwise you should be allright....

If you return before your current AP expires you will have no problems.

This is not correct. The only way you can't travel while your AP is pending is IF your original AP has expired. In this case then you CAN NOT travel until you have the new one in hand.

Please give advise.
