Travel after passport stamping

I recently got my passport stamped after 485 approval. I had to submit all the documents as well as the original approval notice. Though I have my stamp in the passport (which looks quite unremarkable) and the courtesy copy of my approval, is it safe to travel without the card. Also, will the immigration officers recognize the stamp as a legitimate GC. Please share your thoughts and experiences.

All US immigration officials as well as immigration officials at airports all over the world recognize the temporary I-551 stamp as a legal evidence of status in US. The stamp even though looks unremarkable is actually made of a special flouroscent ink that glows with a specific color when viewed under UV light. THis ink is also used in printing of most travel documents all over the world. Most airports have UV lamps to verify authenticity of these travel documents. You should have no problem at all (unless you are travelling from a really obscure country).
