I am planning on travelling in oct to India.I am on H1b visa but donot have stamp on passpost planning to do during visit. 140 is pending since may2002 and have approved EAD and AP. my question is do I need to have transit visa if fly with northwest via amsterdam? or gulf air vis bahrain?
I read on this forum that one need transit visa for germany and france? why do they ask for transit visa when its only for few hrs stay on the airport?
which countries need transit visa? where can I get this information?

You can try checking with the country's consulate or embassy in US.

Give them a call or Check out ther website for requirements or waivers for transit visas. They will tell you who needs a transit visa and who don't

Also since I am in the same boat as you - don't have H1 stamp on my passport, but planning to apply for H1 Visa in India. I have AP, EAD as backup (140 approved)

I would like you to share your experience with me, about potential concerns, ramifications, addition documents, requirements for applying for H1 while your have an immigration petition pending. Did you talk to your lawyer, what did he/she say.

Forexample what are the rejection scenarios at the US consulate, what are the problems during re-entry if visa is rejected, and so on...

I would greatly appreciate if you can give me all the details.
