Hi All,
My Parents are planning to come from INDIA to USA in Jan 25th 2003. They are having 10 year USA VISA. They will be comin gon DELTA Airlines through PARIS. I want to know do they need any TRANSIT VISA at PARIS. It's only less than 3 hour waiting time for the connecting Flight on Same DELTA. Please respond to my question If anybody travelled recently.

Thank you,

Transit Visa

Why do you need Transit Visa. If your parents will not go out of the airport they do not need any transit Visa. You said its a 3 hour wait and I think they will stay in the airport (paris) So you don't need any.

chill out.

You dont need transit visa as long as they dont go out of airport. I came 3 months back from India and I did thorough investigation on the issue (talking to consulate, checking officeal website etc.)

We had been to French embassy in Boston for this question about four months ago. The person (officer) was not quite clear about the requirement. He kept saying that we needed a visa. This was due to the fact that we have not stamped out passport with our H1B extension, since we thought we will wait for ! 485 approval. We haven't got the approval yet.

We decided to take the visa to avoid problems. It is abot 8 dollars and the visa is stamped the same day.

The passport was not checked at all in Paris, is another thing!

Here is something you may want to do...

.. call your travel agents. They have a pretty good idea about the same. Infact, contact a couple of travel agents that generally specialize in the desi sector.

Ideally, I would believe that if you dont leave the airport you would not require a transit visa. However, i did hear that post 9/11, there were some changes.

In your case a transit visa will not be required because your parents hold a valid 10 yr multiple entry visa. A transit visa is a must if you do not have a valid US Visa stamp, irrespective of whether you are leaving the Airport or not. This was communicated to me by the French Consultae. Serach for "India" and it will take you to the right place.

You need to make sure that they do not require with travel agents and airlines. When I came through Rome(Italy), they needed one and my travel agent took care of all that stuff. They looked at my transit visa before they allowed me to take the next connecting flight(same airport- 3hr halt). In front of me some of the people were pulled over by the immigration(airport) authorities for not having transit visa. However this is in Italy. You need to double check with travel agent and airline peopl.

guys, as long as you have indian passport and valid us visa, transit visa is not required. This is from their official website

"For citizens of India, the airport transit visa is not required, if they are holders of a valid visa issued by a country of the European Union and EEE (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway Portugal, Spain, The United-Kingdom, and Sweden), Canada, Switzerland and the USA.
