Transit Visa - Pls help

Things change day to day.
1) Search in German Consulate Web site for travel requirements.
2) Call German Consulate in USA.
3) Call your travel agency.
4) Call Lufthansa Airlines.
5) If you are in city, visit nearest German Consulate in USA.
6) If you have time and willing to spend $50 to $100, get
transit visa.
7) If you do not want to do this all, try other airline.

I saw a posting almost a month ago on this website regarding this. The guy who replied said he did travel to India via Frankfurt recently. But did not need any tranist visa in Frankfurt.
I travelled to India via Amsterdum almost a month ago. I didn't need transit visa.
I know a guy who travelled to USA via UK 2 weeks ago. He didn't need to transit visa in UK, even though I heard a lot that UK has imposed transit visa.

UK needs a Transit Visa if you are using AP. No one checks if you have a transit visa while leaving USA. I travelled in jan 2004 via UK. I was checked for transit visa @ dubai. People who did not have a transit visa were sent back. Check the embassy website. Besides it is < $50. If in doubt, then go get it. You can travel in peace. If saving $50 means very much, be prepared to face music if at all it happens. As always, if nothing happens then great, if something happens ?? you know what i am saying.
