Traveling on Advance Parole.

I'm planning on flying to India trans-Atlantic and am wondering as to which Countries / Airports require a transit visa (we don't plan on leaving the airport).

I checked with the German embassy and they said I don't require a transit visa. Waiting to hear back from the UK Embassy.
Any input/thoughts appreciated.
thx

For UK, it is very inconsistent. Recently my friend flew from Bombay to Paris and was intending to fly to Boston via London. However, the French Authorities dissuaded him from flying via London in the absence of a valid transit visa. If he would still proceed, he may face deportation from the UK, was what he was sternly told. His problem may well have been because he had an E-Ticket, in lieu of the Paper-ticket. So, I called him and verified once again about these details and in his case this is what had happened.

He also says, that if you have a valid visa to the US and a valid paper-ticket, they don't press for transit visa at the UK. However, he was also told that if he would fly via London to India, he will have to get a transit visa.

My heads are rolling. I am merely informing what my friend told me. He took his trip in December 2003.

Hi.
Few days back i called Airlines regarding Transit visa Flying through london. They told if you have valid visa and if you are not changing airport in London. You no need any Transit visa. But this is regaring Visitor Visa.

But if your are changing Airport You Need Transit Visa in London. Other like Frankfurt etc. You no need Transit visa.

And also Few days back one of my friends parents went to india through London. They didnot took Transit visa. They didnt changed the airport in London and they are on Visitor Visa.

Thanks

my 2 cents...

I believe if you have some sorta stamping in ur passport or a valid AP to enter back US..you dont need a transit visa if u r not going to change airports. My friend recently tried to fly to india thru BA and they denied boarding pass as he did not have a valid stamp and asked him to get a visa for UK...so he had to come back from the airport (remember it takes 2 weeks to get that visa if you rnt in big cities like DC, frisco)..so he got rebooked on air france...the airline agent said its not necessary for a transit visa for paris..but he called (once bitten twice shy) the consulate and found that he has to..luckily its a few hour process..he got it and as we speak is in india..money wasn't wasted here..but he spent 4 days of his vacation here...i think that matters more when u travel home..
