Better to have it.

I took the pain to get the transit visa when travelling on parole in November. But nobody was there at Frankfurt to check it. And so it turned out to be useless for me. But for the peace of mind and just in case, its better to get it.

hi mdu123,

Travelled thro' frankfurk using AP on November. I had a domestic connection with United and they did not know anything abt AP. So he denied the boarding pass and said i need a transit visa or a valid visa in the passport. So in last minute i had to call the consulate in Atlanta and luckily a lady clarified that if the person is on Indian origin there is no need for Transit visa. So she faxed a doc explaining this and only then i was issued a Boarding pass (just few mins before the flight left!). So you could call the consulate and get this document to be on the safe side.

Thanks in advance

allsucks,

not indian consulate. if you are traveling to Frankfurt then call the German consulate or embassy.

Thanks for all your replies. To be in the safer side I got the Transit from German Consulate in Copley sq, Boston. Pretty simple procedure. Took just 3 hrs. to get my passport stamped.

Will post details after my trip.
