Hi All,

We have our GC stamped on our passports but we don't have our plastic cards as yet. We will be travelling to India via Frankfurt. Do we need to get transit visa for Germany? Please share your experiences.

Thanks

I have been told by an Officer at German Consulate in Chicago that Transit Visa is required to travel with I-551 stamp (No physical card).

Here's the extract from the german consulate website:

"In order to establish if you need an airport transit visa, please be informed that the following documents are not sufficient to travel without an airport transit visa:
- I551
- advanced parole
- approval notice
- work permit"

You can find more details at the following URL :

Thanks.

Typical of Germans not to recognise anything which the rest of the world thinks its normal and sufficient.
Thats one place iam not going to apply for a job.
