Transferred to the Denver local office - Interview experiences anyone ?

My 485 application was transferred to the Denver local office yesterday. I dont know why the transfer. I have been working for the same employer since my application was filed. The only reason I can think of is that I got married in July '01 and filed for the 485 in Dec '01.

Could people who have already attended interviews at Denver or anywhere else please post their experiences here ?
Would really appreciate it.

Thanks

case transfers

The reason for your transfer may be because you were married less than 2 years at the time when they opened your case.

The reason for RFE may be because they want to make sure that they have all the documents in hand before they transfer everything to the local office.

Here in Columbus, Ohio many cases have been transferred from NSC and the wait time is almost 6 to 7 months. The reason being, Columbus is not a sub-office, it is only a satellite office and hence the case will first be transferred to cincinatti/cleaveland. The people there open the case and they see that it is intended for Columbus and they re-transfer it to Columbus. This whole process takes almost 4 months or so in total. Once columbus recieves the case, they take somewhere between 3 to 5 months to schedule an interview. Also they schedule interviews only on 2 days (I guess it is thursday and Friday) in a week and only 10 -15 cases in total for those 2 days. This caused huge backlogs and we are in that mess right now. I'm not sure about Denver Office.

Also one important thing is that, once your case is xferred to local office any application (AP/EAD etc) therafter must be filed in local office (I'm not sure whether they will allow you to do that....In Columbus they asked us to apply everything in NSC). When you apply other applications in the Service Center, they will not have your case and they go thru the above transfer process.

So once your case is transferred and if you are sure that you will get the interview withing couple of months, then you can wait, otherwise it is better to apply AP/EAD/Renewal documents asap to avoid last minute tensions.

This in only my suugestion.

Denver is quite OK. Backlog is very little. Only answer the questions they ask, try to answer them with out too much explanation.

Thank you hopeful2003 and reliance, every bit of info helps at this time.

My attorney said, the transfer is most likely due to the fact that I got married after filing the labour app.

Reliance : have u or someone you know had an interview at the denver office ?. Do you know what kind of questions they ask. Which attorney did you have in Denver, and do they accompany you to the interview ?

Again, thanks guys.

This is the advice one of my friend got from his attorney. He got his GC almost a year back. He has moved out of CO since. I dont know if this lawyer accompanied him for the internew or not. A lawyer's presence is always good, simply becasue you feel more confident.

Marriage not the issue

I got married a month before filing 485....I got approved right away...Infact for 6-7 months my spouse was living in a different city.....
Now we are together forever !!:)

This is what confuses me !. I am sure in a lot of cases GC applicants get married after filing. But I dont think a proportionate number of cases are transferred to the local office.

I think marriage is the reason for the transfer because while my RFE came in and we responded, etc. my spouse's status remained unchanged, and now both our case status' say Transferred to the local office on 8/12.

Still just guessing I dont think will ever know the real reason for the transfer even after the interview.

I just want to be very well prepared for the interview. Any help towards this, would be very much appreciated.

Thank you
