interview experience

My case was transferred to Newark on Apr 18, 2003. I received the interview appointment letter on May 15, 2003, the interview was scheduled on Jun 6, 2003. The interview was totally screwed up. First the officer checked my files transferred from Vermont center, then asked for medicals (should be issued by a physician certified by INS). I told her that I didn't go to an INS physician for the medicals. Then she said that is OK since I have medical record when I filed my I-485. She also asked for three years of tax return and W-2s, employment letter. After checking all the documents, she told me that my case need go through the security check which will take a few hours and I can wait in the waiting room before she calls me. Actually I waited in the waiting room for a whole day and got nothing. Finally at 4:00pm she came out and told me that she still couldn't go through the system and gave me a letter showing my case needs security check. That is it. Also you should prepare all the copies of your supporting documents, DON'T expect there is a copy machine in Newark INS. If you want to keep your original document like the W-2s, you'd better copy them in advance.

I did a search on the forum, but couldn't find any specific threads stating their interview experience at Newark. A lot of people have had interviews, but I guess they don't bother posting their experiences once they're done!

Not everyone has a bad experience, and I know that newark is one of the fastest centers to get an interview at! Whether you get approved at the time of interview or not, I guess depends on whether the preliminary security check has been completed!

Good luck!
