I reside local in Los Angels, California. So, my lawyer said that is the reason My case has been transferred.

Has you case has been transferred?

No but mine's from LA too with dates very similar to yours and taking awfully long .. I'm just worried :(. What was your FP date and location if you don't mind sharing.

I think your case got transferred because your center was NSC and your address was nebraska. My labor and 140 were cleared from Vermont, but my 485 was filed @ CSC (and my current addy is Calif.), so I am hoping I don't join the transfer queue, but with INS .. you can't really tell.

SM --that in one reason of you case delay cause ur 140 approval came from VSC. and it takes them ages to bring in those records in originals from across the service centers. I have seen that on number of peoples.

SM,
I am very sorry to say that most probably you will be having interview. I don't want to scare you but it looks like. So better be mentally prepare for interview and delays. I know the pain of getting transfer I am also a victim of case transfer.

vip, transfer or no transfer, this wait sucks .. whatever comes, I'll deal with it.

Vip, why do you think was your case transferred?

BTW, my case is taking so long because, they haven't touched any with my date's FP. What happens after touching is another story. But so far it cannot be attributed to vermont/california.

I am not sure why they transferred my case but what officer told me at the time of interview was because they wanted to make sure that I am working with same company or not. As far I was living in Boston they did not talk about that. And also I never changed my address from CA to MA. So VSC or CSC did not know that I was in MA.
But I have seen where ever INS sees even a little deviation from straight case they are calling for interview. So that’s why I said you might have interview. Really by heart I wish I am wrong
No doubt wait sucks and more if it got transferred

Our FP date ws Mar 27 02.. no news from CSC.. but our friend who filed and did FP after us got his GC 6mths back..

There is no point in saying this that my friend got it why not me ? If we start a new thread on this issue, I am sure there will be number of post on that. Some of ppl are lucky by birth and in case of getting GC it is more of a luck how soon you get it. Eventually every body will be getting but what matters is "TIME".
This is not an exam that you will get good grades if you work hard. So sit tight and if you have passed the JIT dates then call INS, call your lawyer wait for 6-8 weeks then again call INS. I know it is easy to say but not to do. But think what it takes to call INS it is nothing except Time so ask your spouse (if not working) . It might be possible that INS wake up and start working.

SM,

You know it better that there is no fix time for interview call. It could be 2-6-8 months.

Vip, I had read somewhere that LA interview could take as long as 26 months .. I think the interview lines depends on the exact local office you are dealing with.

SM, you are right in some cases it might be 26 months, but think positive there are ppl who got interview call in just 2 months also. But yeah it is not fixed, it all depends on two things
1. Local INS
2. you luck

Does it takes 26 months after the case has been transferred. Or the 485 Receipt Date.

Hello vipsha ans Silly Man,

Does it takes 26 months after the case has been transferred. Or the 485 Receipt Date.?

Kiran, yes there will be definitely an interview. The 26 months is an unconfirmed rumor, I donot have enough info on it to confirm that :-/

Kiran and SM,

Don't talk about 26 months, its scary. On an average it takes 6 months. It could be 4 months it could be 8 months, not beyond 9 months. I have not seen any case where it took more than 9 months ( I am talking about interview call so don't get confuse ). But what I am not sure is that if JIT is valid for the cases which got transferred to local INS for interview. If yes then we can call INS and ask them. But problem is you can not directly talk to local INS unless and until your lawyer sends mail/e-mail (since my lawyer said that she sent an e-mail to local INS for my wife's interview ) or you go personally to local INS and inquire about your case (I called INS national service center and they said go to local INS personally ).
Is there any official way to know that how much time local INS is taking for interview letters ? I am not aware of any.

Kiran, SM and Vipsa,

You can go to the local office where your case is transferred and they should be able to confirm that they have received your file. In my case, I got a notice from the INS that my case - 485 and advanced parole were transferred to Local INS office for an interview. After 2 weeks, my lawyer got a 1 page letter from the santa ana INS office - stating that my advanced parole has been approved and I should go to their office with the notice and pick it up. When I went there, they checked my ID and then gave me my approved advanced parole. being pro-active i asked the officer if my 485 was also transferred to their office. he asked me to go downstairs to their information department and find out. when i gave my wac number to the information department, they confirmed that they had receiced my file. i asked the information desk if i could talk to an officer to find out why my case was transferred. so he gave me a number. when my number was called, i gave the officer my receipt notice. she went back and confirmed they had my file there and said they will send me a notice for an interview. i asked her how long will i have to wait for the interview and she said the average time for wait is 6 months. she was very nice and friendly and went out of her way to go back and confirm they had my file. i asked her if i could come back after couple months to check the status and she said sure. it just gives u a sense of relief that the file has not been misplaced in the process of coming from downtown to the santa ana office. my reciept date and pd is nov 01 . i got the transfer notice for my 485 and advanced parole on dec 02. hope this information is helpful. my files went from downtown la to santa ana because my mailing address in in orange county.
