Hello,

My company is requesting me to execute a project in India for 2 year duration. I received my green card on 8th Aug, 2004. Till now I stayed in USA.

- My company is making arrangement to be on US Ghost payroll so that I can continue to be on US salary.

- My company also agreed that I can visit USA once in 6 months.

Now below are my concern
1) My company is requesting that I should take LPR repermit. I'm slightly confused with this, if I'm going to visit once in 6 months and it is stated in the transfer letter do I need to take this?

2) Will my requirement for naturalization gets affected I stay for 2 years?

3) What more I should request from my company so that I can keep my GreenCard and also maintain the requirement for Naturalization.

thanks and regards
Ram

In principle, not, but having it is one more piece of the puzzle to help you show that you continue to be a PR.
Well, any stay abroad over 6 months generally disrupts the continuous residency requirement. See the "Guid to Naturalization", avaliable on the USCIS website, for details.
You probably can't do much more. You don't qualify for an N-470 yet, which would help you maintain the continuous residency requirements. But for that, you need to have been physically in the US for 1 full year after becoming a PR.

Thanks for quick response. I wrote it incorrectly regarding the year. I received the GC on 8th Aug,2003. Can you provide pointers and information about the N-470.

Will i be able to preserve the 15 months before making taking assignment.

Thanks again
Regards
Ram.

Hey JoeF -

Will he need to apply for N-470 if he goes out of the US for 2 years but comes back to the US once per 6 months?

I think this is what the poster originally indicated.

Clarification of 1 year physical presence

See the instructions for the N-470 at http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/n-470.htm
That depends. If you don't stay abroad for longer than 6 months a piece, or if you have an approved N-470, yes. Otherwise, not (it may be possible to argue that even a stay abroad over 6 months, but less than 1 year didn't disrupt the continuous residence, but CIS has taken a firm stand there in the last year or so.)

Hello JoeK,
Thanks again for your reply.

I went through the document and instructions (page 4), and it says after becoming PR person should stay unininterrupted period for minimum of 1 year. I have visited 2 times outside USA for business conferences. Does this mean that I may not eligible to preserve my time.

Thanks and Regards
Ram.

who bother, it is a good job market, you have been with the sponsoring employer for a few months find another job and be happy!!

I have billed 4 mill this year much more than I did in 2000. You got to be really skilled BOSS!!! Show me you have the skills and tell me what money you want and I will place you in a week..

Well, the job market here in SoCal doesn't look that good yet. Friends of mine still have problems to find jobs. They are not looking for jobs as consultants, though.

JoeF is obviously talking about himself ( as he has no friends whatsoever). Get a job idiot :D :D

The company I work for has a branch office in India. They are planning to send me frequently to India ( once every 2 to 3 months). Once there, I would be working with locals for a period anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 weeks. Will this interruption have any effect on naturalization?
