Transferred I485 Application to another BCIS office for processing?

My I485 status has been updated on USCIS system and now it says:
"On April 6, 2006, we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status to another BCIS office for processing. They will notify you when they take action on your case."

Could any of you let me know what this means?

it means that the local office will schedule an interview before they adjucate your case. the big unknown is how long you will have to wait before you the interview.

Have not heard about change in message

I have heard that there would be transfers to other service centers but have not heard about people getting their messages updated.

I think it is not a problem that some cases have been transferred to other service centers. In the short term I see some disruption because of the shuffling but see better streamlined process in the long run.

given your case is a 2002 case I think the process would be streamline by the time your PD becomes current. So I dont think there is going to be an adverse effect.

This is called Bi-specialization.

This is what my attorney wrote to me regarding the message:

"As promulgated in the Act, The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
(USCIS) has changed the allocation of case adjudication duties between the
four USCIS Service Centers. The new system is referred to as
Bi-Specialization. Essentially, the USCIS Service Centers will be paired.
The Vermont Service Center (VSC) is paired with the California Service
Center (CSC), and the Nebraska Service Center (NSC) is paired with the Texas
Service Center (TSC). This means that the VSC/CSC pair will adjudicate
certain types of cases; primarily nonimmigrant petitions. The NSC/TSC will
adjudicate other types of cases; primarily immigrant visa petitions,
regardless of where the sponsor and/or beneficiary reside/s. These changes
go into place on April 1, 2006. This system is starting with I-129 petition
filings for employment-based nonimmigrant, as well as I-140 filings for
immigrant workers. The system impacts where cases have to be filed."

Bi-specialization

linux1112000,

Your attorney is right about bi-spec. This is something new that the USCIS has implemented starting April 1 2006. Most people thought that bi-spec meant that starting April 1 everyone would file their 140s and 485 in either NSC or TSC. CSC and VSC will no longer accept 140 and EB 485 apps. Their long term strategy is to have NSC and TSC work on EB cases while VSC and CSC work on other types of cases.

What has been happening lately in CSC and now in VSC I guess is that pending EB cases are being transferred from these centers to TSC and NSC. People did not expect this to happen because everyone thought that all pending EB cases would be processed by the centers they are currently in and bi-spec would only apply to cases filed beyond April 1 2006. I guess we were wrong. USCIS is moving ahead with the plan of getting all EB (pending and new) to TSC and NSC. Although I have not heard anyone discuss this but I am sure that pending family based cases must be getting TRX from TSC and NSC to CSC and VSC.

What work is VSC going to do? Process cases where only I-485(family or empl) are pending?

p.s. from what I gather from these guys they are going to take some time to enter data from the paper work sent by VSC into NSC systems so their jobs continue. They have secured employment as long a we don't have GC

noshs,

You are absolutely correct. All these centers are useless.
